Sourwood trees blossom late in June through August and need generous sunshine and rain to produce enough flowers to yield a honey crop, so the honey is only available in 'vintage' years. 2011 has proven to be a banner year for this Southern Appalachian favorite. This award winning honey is big and complex with hints of maple and spice. Although this years Sourwood Honey boasts huge flavor it's bright enough for basting grilled chicken or pork tenderloin. For a real southern treat drizzle some warm Sourwood Honey on a big ol' stack of flapjacks! KSA Kosher Certified.
ORIGIN
Appalachian Mountains is home to pure Sourwood Honey
TASTING NOTES
Sourwood Honey won the 2005 World Honey Tasting Competition for its flavors of molasses, maple, and mocha
DID YOU KNOW?
Sourwood Honey sometimes has a slight purple tint! And sourwood trees are also called "Lily of the Valley Trees" because of their blossom's similar appearance.

Comment: My mother is from western North Carolina and my uncle raises bee's up there, so imagine my surprise to find sourwood honey in a store in Charleston. It was every bit as delicious as I remembered it being. It is by far and away my favorite. No other honey is this good, or unique in my opinion. Knowing what is involved in getting bee's to where the sourwood is, my hat's off to you for offering this rare delicacy at a most reasonable price. Not only would I recommend your products, I'd highly encourage people to buy them. Thank you.

Comment: I had my first taste of "sourwood" last summer while visiting Savannah. I bought a bunch and shared it with a few friends here in Illinois. I'm a beekeeper and we have some really good honey here, but "Sourwood" has a depth and complexity I've never tasted in honey before.

Comment: "This honey has so much flavor, I just like to eat it with tart apple slices. So many different flavors! Is there a little hint of bubblegum flavor in there? Love it."
