Giana has worked in a variety of media and brings an eclectic background to her work. She trained in art schools at the Maryland Institute College of Art and at Syracuse University. Giana also worked as a pottery apprentice in Tsuwano, Japan. She has worked in Soho, NY, Florence, OR and Jesup, GA- where she and her husband John currently reside.
Building on the strong beauty of the Japanese forms, Giana strives to imbue her work with freshness and vitality through use of a unique glaze palette and carved and sculpted designs integrated into the pots.
Giana’s art specialties include hand-thrown dinnerware and serving pieces, classic and unique teapots, whimsical casseroles, angels, mermaids, tooth fairy castles, and piggy banks!
In her spare time she teaches senior fitness and aqua-aerobics classes, walks her dogs, and cooks gourmet vegetarian meals.
