* 2 cup milk
* 1 cup milk
* 1 cup water
* 1/4 cup shortening
* 1/4 cup Savannah Bee Company Tupelo Honey
* 1 cake compressed or 1 packet dry granular yeast
* 5 1/2 cup whole wheat flour (about)
Scald milk and cool to lukewarm. Add salt, water, and shortening.
Put Savannah Bee Company Tupelo Honey and yeast in a large mixing bowl; let stand until yeast is softened. Add the milk mixture and two cups whole wheat flour. Beat thoroughly. Add another cup of flour and beat again. Add remainder of flour.
Turn out on floured board and knead until no longer sticky (about 8 minutes). Place in lightly greased bowl and let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and let rise again. Shape into 2 loaves and place in greased pans. Let rise until double in bulk. Keep dough at even temperature (85 degrees) for rising.
Bake at 375 for about 50 minutes or until nicely browned and loaf begins to shrink from the pan.
