Enriched Bread


  • 2  cup  milk
  • 1  cup  milk and
  • 1  cup  water
  • 2  tablespoon  shortening
  • 2  tablespoon  Savannah Bee Company Tupelo Honey
  • 1  cake compressed or 1 packet dry granular yeast
  • 6  cup  flour (about)
Scald milk and cool to lukewarm. Add salt and shortening.

Put Savannah Bee Company Tupelo Honey and yeast in a large mixing bowl; let stand until yeast is softened. Add milk and half the flour. Beat thoroughly. Gradually add enough flour to make a soft dough.

Turn out on floured board and knead until smooth and elastic (about 8 minutes). Place in lightly greased bowl and let rise until double in bulk. Punch down lightly and let rise again. Form into two loaves. Place in greased pans. Allow to rise until double in bulk.

Bake at 40 minutes at 400-425 degrees.
